It’s been an unusual couple of days, as far as Norwich City are concerned.
I honestly can’t remember a player being suspended before, any takers?
What will happen over the next five days is anyone’s guess. Will Lewis Grabban stay or will he be sold or loaned out? If he were to go, we would be incredibly short of striking options if we didn’t bring another player or two in.
I say ‘two’ because it seems that Gary Hooper is on the verge of a season long loan to Sheffield Wednesday. Hooper appeared in a Wednesday fan’s tweet yesterday and was supposed to have been photographed actually in Sheffield, thereby increasing the rumours.
Wolves are seemingly steadfast in their desire to keep Benik Afobe, who has become Alex Neil’s number one target. They’ve knocked back £10m, with various reports suggesting that they have put a £14m fee on a player they paid just £2m for in January.
The Mail are reporting today that Wolves feel they don’t have enough time to get a replacement in any case and that this is also a factor. What Afobe thinks, is unknown.
The Mail also suggest, ably supported by The Mirror that if Lewis Grabban were to be allowed to leave then City would move for Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle.
I’ve mentioned here before that I don’t think Gayle is any better than we already have. That comment was based on the presumption that we would still have Hooper and Grabban – that is looking less and less likely.
City need to move quickly now, after this latest development with Grabban. Imagine the prospect of an injury to Cameron Jerome leaving us with the toothless Tigers of RvW and Kyle Lafferty as back-up!
Gayle is a similar player to Hooper but quicker and if I’m honest, he’s a harder worker too, something that Gary has never been known for at Norwich.
With a bid made for Gayle’s team mate, Glen Murray last week as well, our forward line could soon have a very different look about it.
