Goalkeeper Joe Lewis has moved out on loan to League Two side Stockport County until the end of the season. The 19-year-old could become involved in County`s promotion run-in. They currently lie in 6th position and occupy a play-off spot.

Peter Grant is obviously keen to not let his youngsters rot in the reserves and is determined that they get first team experience and in my opinion this can only be a good thing for the club. Grant has praised Lewis` performances in the reserves but admits his first team chances – for now – will be limited at Carrow Road.

Grant told the official site: “Joe has been playing well for the reserves, but with Tony Warner and Paul Gallacher in the squad I felt it would be beneficial for him to get games in a first-team environment.”

“Stockport are going well and have a good chance of reaching the play-offs, so if he does play he will be tested both mentally and physically in a way which reserve team football just cannot offer,” he added.

Lewis could now be involved in Stockport`s clash with Rochdale this weekend. Like I have said when the Jarvis brothers and Hendo have gone out on loan – Lewis will be grateful for the competitive football. The fact that Stockport have promotion to play for is also beneficial for the young keeper. Reserve football is efficient for a time but it seems that Grant will be reluctant to put Lewis in the first time until he has had some competitive action.
