Norwich City have reportedly rejected an offer from Middlesbrough for Jonny Howson according to HITC Sport
HITC Sport “understands from sources close to the club” that ‘Boro`s initial bid has been knocked back.
The 29 year old has two years left on his contract and has declined the offer of a contract extension from the Canaries, meaning that unless he has a change of heart, a sale either this summer or certainly within the next 12 months looks highly likely.
To my mind, City aren`t under any immediate pressure to sell Howson, with his value not really starting to drop away until he reaches the 12 month point of his current deal.
News of Middlesbrough`s interest first surfaced yesterday and you`d have to assume that they would have the financial muscle to do a deal, with Norwich seemingly willing to sell if the price is right.
