Jacob Butterfield has joined Bolton on an initial one month loan.

The 22yr old City midfielder has become new Bolton boss, Dougie Freedman’s first signing.

Butterfield joined Norwich in the summer from Barnsley and was playing catch up after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury at the turn of the year.

He has found first team opportunities limited, particularly with the recent fine form of Wes Hoolahan.

Meanwhile, Jed Steer has made a similar move to Cambridge United. He goes straight into the squad for this weekend’s clash against Macclesfield. Director of football, Jez George went out of his way to thank Chris Hughton for making this move happen

No doubt Chris Hughton sees this as a perfect chance for youngsters Jacob and Jed to get some game time and play a role in the first team on their return, hopefully fully match fit.

All the best fellas…
