Norwich City target Anthony Pilkington wants to leave Huddersfield Town to play in the Premier League.

The Canaries were linked with a £1.75m move for the 23-year-old last week after Leeds upped their asking price for Robert Snodgrass.

That bid was rejected by the Terriers but after chairman Dean Hoyle confirmed to htafc.com yesterday wants to move on, talkSPORT reported that he will become Paul Lambert’s fourth permanent signing of the summer for a feee of around £1.8m.

Hoyle said:

‘Anthony contacted Lee Clark yesterday and said he wanted to leave the Club and achieve his ambition to play at the highest level, from the start of next season.

‘I have spoken to Anthony at length personally over the last 24 hours and tried to convince him to stay but his mind is firmly made up.

‘I have told Anthony I will not stand in his way. As hard as it may be, if a Premier League club comes in for him and we get the right offer he will be allowed to leave. We will wait and see how thing develop.’

Pilkington made 36 appearances for Huddersfield last season, scoring 11 times in the process.

He has been out of action since March after dislocating his ankle and breaking his fibula.
