Nottingham Forest are close to signing former Norwich defender, Javier Garrido reports the Nottingham Post

The 32 year old left back has been a free agent since leaving Cypriot side, AEK Larnaca at the end of last season but looks set to join Aitor Karanka`s Forest revolution. Since replacing Mark Warburton at the City Ground, former Middlesbrough boss, Karanka has signed eight players and overseen an upturn in form.

Garrido was a bit of a fan favourite at Carrow Road, having initially joined the Canaries on loan from Lazio in 2012. He made the move permanent in 2013 under Chris Hughton and spent three years in total in yellow and green, providing the assist that saw Anthony Pilkington score in the famous 1-0 win over Manchester United in November 2012.

Javier joined Las Palmas in August 2015 and was released the following summer, joining AEK Larnaca on a two year deal.

He always had a very decent left foot but was a little short of pace, and at 32, I assume he hasn`t got any quicker in the last three years.
