Godfrey Loan Extended At Shrewsbury

Ben Godfrey will remain on loan at high flying Shrewsbury Town in League One for the rest of the season it has been announced by Norwich City

The 19 year old has been an integral part of the Shrews` midfield as a defensive midfielder, having made 24 appearances and he has helped Shrewsbury to second place in the table at time of writing.

I`ve read plenty of stuff on Twitter from fans moaning about this decision and basically saying that he should come back to Carrow Road rather than extending the loan.

I cannot see the logic of bringing him back when he is playing regularly and learning every week in League One. If he came back here then he wouldn`t play regularly because there are other players ahead of him at Norwich. Would anyone seriously play Ben ahead of Alex Tettey and Tom Trybull in defensive midfield at this time?

There`s no point in bringing him back to sit on the bench so to my mind, this makes good sense. Next season, when we will probably have let Tettey leave after his contract runs out, then, that`s when Ben Godfrey will get his chance to stake a claim in the City side.

Good luck for the rest of the season, Ben.
