Norwich City have signed Grant Hanley from Newcastle for an undisclosed fee, the club have announced

The 25 year old describes himself as an “old fashioned no-nonsense centre half” and joins on a four year deal. That sounds exactly what we have been crying out for, for about four years now.

Anyway, having made 200 appearances for boyhood club, Blackburn Rovers and being named Captain aged just 22, he joined Newcastle last summer for £5.5m. However, he made just 16 appearances for the Magpies, despite keeping his place in Gordon Strachan`s Scotland squad.

He left the Scottish squad last night to join Norwich and will link up with them again now ahead of the important World Cup Qualifiers. I expect Russell Martin and Steven Naismith have already given him the low down on his new club.

Welcome to Norwich, Grant.
