Alan Irvine was left fuming, after watching Norwich City let a three goal lead slip at Elland Road on Saturday.

City had put themselves in a terrific position to win the game by the 44th minute but then allowed a sucker punch goal from Chris Wood in the 45th minute. The defence weren’t ready and weren’t back in position.

That meant City went in at 1-3, with the home side and fans having something to cling onto. It got worse in the second half as Leeds scored an early goal from a massive goal mouth scramble before Hernandez’s decent free kick gave the hosts what had seemed like an unlikely draw.

‘Right now I feel angry and I feel disappointed because we allowed them back into the game after being outstanding for 45 minutes,’ Irvine said after the game when he spoke to Norwich City TV

‘In the 46th minute, we were unprofessional. We didn’t (have)players back in position for their kick-off and we paid the price.

‘I went mad at half-time in the dressing room when I should have been telling them how good they’d been.

‘I told them the importance of their first goal; what it had done to the crowd here who were ready to boo them off, what it had done to their players.

‘I should be standing here with a big smile on my face and saying how good we’ve been, but I’m going to leave being very disappointed.’

Same old story as far as the defence goes, I’m afraid. That was our season, right there in 90 odd minutes.
