Is Matt Jarvis Really Back?

Matt Jarvis is back in first team training.

Yes, I know.

Jarvis tweeted this on Wednesday from his Twitter account @MrMattJarvis:

“It`s been extremely tough mentally and physically for me with injury this last year but am buzzing to be back out training with the lads again today! Exciting times ahead!”

Since joining the Canaries in 2015, the talented wide man has endured a frustrating period on the sidelines with one injury after another, followed by one return and breakdown after another.

I`d say it`s been pretty frustrating for the Canary nation too.

His talent has never been in doubt and that persuaded West Ham to pay £12m for him in 2012. His Hammers career was also blighted by injury and when Alex Neil offered to take him off their hands, the Irons` board jumped at the chance.

It was meant to be a fresh start for the one time England international and the initial loan was turned into a £2.5m transfer in January 2016 after some positive displays in the Premier League. I particularly remember his efforts in the 3-1 win over Bournemouth, when he scored and was generally excellent.

However, he soon became “the glass man” and broke down time after time. That Bournemouth goal is his only one in the league so far but he did manage another, a cracker in a 3-1 win over West Brom in the League Cup.

Whether he`s able to continue his return to fitness and actually play regularly remains to be seen and with a contract on Premier League wages that doesn`t expire until 2019, we`ll all be keeping our fingers crossed that “the glass man” can lay that nickname to rest and contribute regularly.

Best of luck fella,
