Ross MCCormack has a £12m release clause in the contract he signed with Fulham in February, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The 29 year old Scottish International scored 23 goals this season, goals that effectively kept Fulham in the Championship and echo the big fish in a little pond role that Jermain Defoe has played out at Sunderland.

Middlesbrough had a £9m bid for the player rejected by Fulham in January and then turned their attentions to Jordan Rhodes but obviously may decide to return for the prolific former Leeds Captain after being promoted to the Premier League.

The Telegraph report that Norwich or Aston Villa could be interested in McCormack but there is nothing more than that, so don’t get too excited yet.

I couldn’t see either club spending that much money on a single player in the Championship, could you?
