Norwich City’s Harry Toffolo will return to Carrow Road for pre-season and intends to fight for a squad place.

Toffolo spent last season on loan at Swindon Town and made a major impact as The Robins made it to the League One play-off final at Wembley. Harry started the game, although the Robins ended up losing 4-0 to Preston just 24hrs before his parent club won promotion back to the Premier League in their own Wembley final.

Harry won the FA Youth Cup with City and made 30 appearances for the Robins as well as earning England Under-20 honours during a season that saw him make 30 appearances at the County Ground. City have taken up the defender`s one-year option and Toffolo hopes to learn more soon.

“I`ve not actually sat down with Norwich yet, it will be happening in the next few days so I couldn`t say definitively what is going to be happening,” he said. ‘The way things are going at the moment I`ll take pre-season as it comes and I`ve got to impress the new gaffer at Norwich. If I`m around the team then perfect, if I`m not then I`ll find out what is best for me and see if I can get back out on loan.

“But it`s nothing that can be decided yet because it`s a matter of having talks over the next few weeks.”

Swindon boss Mark Cooper made it clear following The Robins’ Wembley defeat that he would like to bring Toffolo back to the County Ground but the defender is excited by the chance to force his way into Norwich`s Premier League squad.

“I was in the youth team when Norwich was in the Premier League before and it was amazing to be a part of, so if I`m in and around it (next season) then it`s a real positive for myself,” he said, speaking to the FLIC Wiltshire web site. “Everyone has been perfect with me since I`ve been at Swindon and there is no reason why you wouldn`t want to (come back), but there is nothing I can say because I have to suss out what the plans are for me at Norwich and what`s best for myself and best for all parties.”

The release of Javier Garrido means that Martin Olsson is short of competition in the left back berth and coupled with Norwich taking up their extra year option on Toffolo’s contract, it seems that Harry could well be the answer if the praise heaped upon him this season is true.
