Christoph Zimmermann has signed a new, presumably improved, deal that will keep him at Carrow Road until 2021 the club have announced

The 24 year old German joined from Borussia Dortmund II on a free transfer in the summer, following Daniel Farke to Norwich City.

Initially, he signed a two year deal but has clearly done enough to impress in the Championship to improve his deal. He was naturally a bit of a gamble because of never having played at this level before and I`m guessing his initial deal reflected that.

Speaking to Norwich City TV after signing his new deal, Zimmermann said: ‘I`m happy and I`m grateful for this.

‘I`ve mentioned it before, but in the summer I was just happy to have the chance to come here and play for Norwich City. It`s the best thing that could have happened for me.

‘I`m looking forward to having some more years here.’

Daniel Farke added: ‘We are really happy with Christoph’s performances.

‘He came in as a young centre-back but has played many minutes. He’s been really important and has helped us become a good team defensively.

‘As a player, he gives everything on the pitch and has a great character. He’s an intelligent guy and has adapted to Championship football very quickly.’

Christoph has definitely improved since he arrived and hopefully he can keep learning and improve even further.
