Daniel Farkes’ Coventry Press Conference – A Fan’s View

|

Having got back to winning ways with a timely and impressive performance on Saturday against Stoke, after a full week to prepare, Norwich return to the familiar Championship pattern of three games in seven days this week.

On Tuesday night they travel to St. Andrew’s to take on former Canary, Mark Robins’ Sky Blues before welcoming City fan Paul Warnes’ Rotherham to Carrow road next Saturday.

As usual, ahead of the game, Daniel Farke spoke to the media via video and as usual, Vital Norwich Forum stalwart, FC Bears was watching. Here’s his take on what was discussed:

DF starts by saying that it doesn’t matter that we are top at the moment.

On Aarons:

‘I don’t go further on with the discussion with Max. We had a chat with Max, he wants to focus on Norwich for this season. It’s not a topic for us or for Max. We will worry about this topic when the season is over. It’s not a worry for us now.’

Oliver Skipp is okay. He got a poke in the eye and couldn’t see much after the game but okay.

All the players are available who played on Saturday.

Jordan Hugill has returned to training and could be involved at the weekend.

DF says it will be a really tough game tomorrow.

‘You need to protect him a little bit. Due to the competition and his character, we needed to take him out of the spotlight for a while.’

Sounds to me like Placheta has been upset so DF has dropped him.

Stiepermann still not back in training.

‘Marco is not back in training. We are thinking about giving him some game time in the Under-23s on Friday. This would be the final step before he returns back to team training. ‘

DF on Kenny McLean

‘I really wanted to kill Kenny after the back pass during the game! It was nice we could have a smile after the game about it!’ That could easily have turned into an episode of South Park!

On Dowell:

‘Kieran Dowell has so much potential, he’s a fantastic footballer. He was great during pre-season and he started the first couple of games. But then he got injured and was out for three months. I would love to give him a few games to get in his rhythm but it’s not possible. We don’t want to risk any league game. He has to wait for his chance and take it when it comes.’

So playing Dowell in the league is a risk. Interesting.

On Sam Byram:

‘Byram has been out for 12 months. We’ll give him all the time he needs, he does his individual rehab stuff, he’s doing some stuff outside but he is very far away from team training.’

I don’t think we will see Byram this season. Maybe last game or something.

So, knowing Farke’s dislike of changing a winning team, I think he will go the same again, which isn’t exactly the hardest prediction to make…
