Norwich City chief Paul Lambert was understandably not a happy man following last night’s humiliating Carling Cup exit at the hands of MK Dons.

The League One leaders battered the Canaries 4-0 at Carrow Road with former City midfielder Luke Chadwick scoring a brace.

Lambert made eleven changes to his starting line-up from the side that drew with Stoke at the weekend, but the side still included the likes of Wes Hoolahan, Russell Martin, David Fox and Andrew Surman – all of whom started against Wigan on the opening day of the season.

‘Disappointing – really, really disappointing,’ he told canaries.co.uk after the game. ‘We got what we deserved which is absolutely nothing and we were never at the races.

‘But I can’t put my finger on it, the squad was really strong and a lot of them played last year and the start of this season, and we lost to the better side.’
