Peter Grant has been talking about the threat of the 38-year-old who is in red-hot form for Hull at the moment; he bagged a hat trick at the weekend during his side`s 4-0 victory over fellow relegation candidates Southend United.

The Norwich boss likens Windass to a certain Norwich City forward, given the shining example that he sets for younger players and has praised the striker for his

Grant said: “Dean’s been about for a long time and great credit to him. He seems to have been a great influence in the games for Hull as soon as he went there. He is another one like Dion Dublin and a great example to younger players.”

My biggest memory of Windass was how we nearly signed him when Martin O`Neil was in charge at Carrow Road. I think I am right in thinking that the fact that Chairman Robert Chase wouldn`t part with the £750,000 needed to buy Windass meant that O`Neil had finally had enough of the Chase`s antics and decided to leave the club.

Windass needs one more goal for his 20th of the season and will no doubt give Doherty and Shackell much reason for concern. I`m just banking on the fact that the former Aberdeen striker has got all his goals out of his system for a couple of games. He`s certainly due an off day and it will be a very Good Friday if that off day comes when Norwich travel to the KC Stadium in three days time.
