Hoolahan out for the season

Wes Hoolahan will miss the rest of the season due to the ankle ligament injury he picked up against Plymouth on Saturday.

The influential Irishman was substituted at half-time of the win against the Pilgrims, and speaking to canaries.co.uk City boss Bryan Gunn called it a ‘devastating blow.’

‘It’s a devastating blow in our current situation. Wes has been a big player in recent weeks and losing him for one game would have been bad enough, never mind the remaining games of the season.

‘But we have to remain positive and this is now an opportunity for one of a number of players who have been waiting for their chance on the sidelines to get into the action in the crucial games ahead.’

In fairness Gunn has no shortage of cover down the left-hand side. Australian international David Carney could step in, as could the out-of-favour Matty Pattison, Simon Lappin, or Ryan Bertrand could be asked to move up field if Adam Drury were to come in at left back.
