Barnsley lifted themselves out of the Championship drop zone with a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace at Oakwell tonight.

A cool finish from Jamal Campbell-Ryce cancelled-out Shefki Kuqi’s opener for Palace, before Lee Hill’s own goal (52) and Michael Mifsud (73) sealed the win for the Tykes.

The result means Barnsley leapfrog Nottingham Forest, the Canaries and Plymouth to move up to 19th – still with two games in hand over most of their relegation rivals.

Elsewhere in the Championship David Kitson marked his return to Reading with an 82nd minute winner as the Royals beat Doncaster 1-0 at the Keepmoat Stadium.

That result leaves Rovers 14th in the table but still eight points clear of the relegation zone.
