Hot Scoring Streak Continues For One Canary As Another Is Set To Captain His Country

|

Teemu Pukki scored yet again as his Finland side narrowly lost 2-1 to Italy in Group J of Euro 2020 qualifying last night.

The Italians took the lead through Ciro Immobile only for Pukki to equalise for the Finns from the penalty spot.

That was his fifth goal in four games for his country to go along with his fifth goal in four games for the Canaries this season. This truly is one of the hottest goal scoring streaks currently in world football.

Italy eventually won the game when Jorginho scored a second half penalty to take the Italians six points clear of Finland at the top of the group and to the verge of qualification.

Meanwhile, Ben Godfrey is set to Captain the England U21s tonight when they take on their Kosovo counterparts.

The Daily Mail are carrying the story this morning in which Ben also talks about the support and advice that former England and Manchester United Captain, Rio Ferdinand has given him.

Godfrey is signed to New Era Global Sports and Rio works as an advisor for them.

He’s open for us young boys in the agency to speak to him any time,’ Godfrey said. ‘He’s been massive.

‘How much better can it get than speaking to a person like Rio Ferdinand? With what he’s experienced, the career he’s had and his knowledge of the game, it’s been massive for me.

‘I’ll continue speaking to him. He’s a great guy and been a massive help.’

As mentioned, Godfrey is set to make his first start for the young Lions, having made his debut as a late substitute last Friday in a 3-2 win in Turkey, a game that Max Aarons played the full 90 minutes.

“It’s incredible for me,’ Godfrey said. “A real proud moment for me and my family. I’m really looking forward to leading the boys out there and hopefully I can top a great night off with three points.

“The last month been good – a massive learning curve. Learning on the job, really.

“A lot of us in the Norwich team haven’t played in the Premier League before. It’s what I’ve aimed to play all my life. It’s why young boys start playing football, to play at the highest level. I’m really enjoying it.”
