Canary legend Darren Huckerby says he is not shocked that Glenn Roeder was sacked as Norwich City manager today – but admitted the speed of it all has taken him by surprise.

‘I’m pretty sure the players didn’t like the way he [Glenn Roeder] spoke to them,’ the City Hall of Famer told BBC Radio Norfolk.

‘I think if you fell out with him then he could hold grudges.’

After the way he left the club in the summer it would be at all surprising if Huckerby was talking from personal experience.

‘I was not really surprised but it still happened pretty sharpish,’ he continued.

‘But the game last night was not great and this was the way it was heading.

‘When you start having a pop at the fans, and when the results haven’t been great you’re asking for trouble.

‘If you just look at the results, they haven’t been good enough.’

The race is now on to determine who will the next Norwich City manager – but we’ll have more on that later.
