Former Norwich City captain Andy Hughes has signed a new contract with Leeds United.

The 31-year-old badge-kissing, chest-thumping midfielder’s ability to pick a pass and fluff it from anywhere on the park divided City supporters during his time at Carrow Road, who took it in terms either loving or hating the former Reading player.

Speaking to Leeds’ official website, Hughes said: ‘It was in my contract when I first came if I made a certain amount of appearances in my second year there would be another year.

‘If we can start nicking wins away from home, it’ll set us up for a final push towards the end of the season. The manager knows how to get success. He’s done it at Blackpool, he’s got good staff around, bubbly players, and the end of the season we need it.’

Leeds are currently 5th in League One, well placed to secure a place in the play-offs.
