New Norwich City signing, Timm Klose has been quoted as saying that he beat a dribbling record held by no other than the World’s best player, Lionel Messi.

Yes, really.

Klose is quoted in the Daily Star this morning as follows:

‘I know it`s hard to believe but I did break Messi`s record. It was done officially with stopwatches and everything.

“But I don`t know the circumstances when Messi did it. Maybe he did it while he was wearing jeans and trainers or something.

“Or maybe there was a pretty girl standing nearby and that distracted him. But all that matters is that I was quicker than him.”

The 27 year old Switzerland international watched from the dug out on Saturday, an unused substitute, as the Liverpool game and it’s terrible defending panned out in front of him. I expect that he will feel he has a great chance of starting against Tottenham next Tuesday – the Canary nation demands it, Mr Neil.

Klose said of his move to England: ‘I`ve always wanted to play in the Premier League and spoke to my Swiss team-mates Xherdan Shaqiri at Stoke and Philip Wollscheid at Leicester before coming here.

“My agent, Gaetano Giallanza, also played for Norwich, and they all told me nothing but good things about the club. So I was happy to come here.

“I`ve played against most of the top English teams before so I`m looking forward to the challenge and now I just want to prove I can be a good Premier League defender.”

Now, I’ve seen Lionel Messi play in the flesh and I’ve seen him score. His dribbling is a matter of almost alien technology, but I haven’t seen Timm Klose play yet. I’m hoping that will happen in a week’s time and he will pick up the ball in his own area and run the length of the field, beating ten men before slotting, no, dinking the ball over the on-rushing Hugo Lloris – it’s what Lionel Messi would do.
