Norwich City are in ‘pole position’ to sign Leicester City defender Yohan Benalouane, report Tutto Mercato Webb in Italy.

Benalouane is a 28 year old, 6’2′ central defender who signed for Leicester in the summer from Atalanta in Serie A for a reported fee of ?8m. He has struggled for game time, having made just four appearances for the Foxes, with Robert Huth and Wes Morgan being the number one defensive partnership.

Leicester are believed to be willing to listen to loan offers for the player and would loan him to Norwich as the two clubs are not in direct competition in the league.

Fiorentina and Sampdoria have shown interest in Benalouane in this window but TMW report that a move to Norwich is most likely.

I said last week when Timm Klose arrived, that I would prefer another new central defender to play alongside him, as I don’t really think that any of the current crop are good enough.

Sounds like we might yet get another defender to go along with the striker we have been chasing all window. Incidentally, Leicetser are reported to have been knocked back in a bid for Sampdoria striker, Eder today. Eder is a reported Norwich target.
