Marseille goalkeeper, Steve Mandanda was reported as a target for Norwich City a couple of weeks ago but last week, stated his intention to stay with Marseille until the end of the season when his contract expires.

The player has been talking to L`Equipe about his future and states that he has had “advanced contacts” with several clubs including Norwich City.

Mandanda`s contract expires in the summer but will automatically be extended by one year if Marseille finish second in Ligue 1 – they are currently 11th.

Mandanda is quoted by L’Equipe as saying ‘I had very advanced contacts (With L’Equipe saying he’s talking about Aston Villa, Norwich and Newcastle),and proposals (Besiktas). But I needed reflection. And I came to the conclusion that today the best thing for me was to continue the Marseille adventure.’

While Mandanda says he was happy with the approaches, he’s hoping for something better as his future club ‘Yes of course. It means that people are interested in me. But I hope for a little better. I may be inflated, but we must be ambitious.’

Sounds like he thinks he’s a little too good for Norwich City. If that’s the case old partner, then we’re not interested either.
