Going into Matchweek 3 of the 2017/18 campaign last weekend, Manchester United’s Henrikh Mhkitaryan was on course to be the first player in Premier League history to create two goals in three consecutive matches.

The Armenian international fell just short ultimately in the game against Leicester City, and whilst he didn’t take the crown, he did equal a record that had existed for the last 23 years.

Laying on Marcus Rashford’s goal in their two nil victory, he took his tally of assists to five for the year so far and that equalled the number of assists record after only three games, going back to 1994/95 where Newcastle United’s Ruel Fox first notched up five.

There are only nine players listed who came close and the difference in the top nine table is simply one goal.

And below the first table are the top five players to produce the most assists across a single Premier League campaign and Mkhitaryan may now turn his attentions to that record.
