Norwich City have signed German midfielder, Moritz Leitner on loan from Augsburg the club have announced

Leitner becomes the Canaries` third signing of the day, all of whom have arrived from Germany, alongside Onel Hernandez and Dennis Srbeny.

So, what have we got and who is he?

Well, he`s 25 years old and has an excellent pedigree, having played at the highest level in Germany.

The easiest thing to do is to let Daniel Farke explain more.

“He`s a player of unbelievable potential,” said Farke. “He has 100 appearances in the Bundesliga, several appearances in the Champions League, has won the German title, has won the German Cup, and was on the bench in the Champions League final.

“He is still a young player with potential, but he also has a lot of experience. He`s had a difficult couple of years, but we feel we can develop him and bring him back to his full potential.”

It sounds to me as though he`s been in a similar type of situation to Tom Trybull, looking for a place to call home.

He`s played under Jurgen Klopp at Dortmund and also under Farke with Dortmund II.

That must`ve been key in luring him to Norfolk and of the four new signings of the last week, I have a gut feeling that if Farke can get a tune out of him, then we`ll have a really exciting player on our hands.

Journalist and broadcaster, Dan O`Hagen, who commentates on German league football and knows a thing or two about it (@danohagen) tweeted this about Leitner on Thursday morning:

“Moritz Leitner to #NCFC On Loan would be quite something. Progress at BVB stalled, due in part to (Julian) Weigl emergence. A very, very able midfielder, certainly at Championship level.”

Welcome to Norwich, Moritz.
