Holland’s Voetbal International have been talking about Norwich City quite a lot this summer, probably more than they ever have before.

The signing of Ricky Van Wolfswinkel showed City’s intent this transfer window and it seems that there is more to come from Dutch shores.

The signing of Ola Toivonen from PSV has stalled a little as the player is reportedly unsure about making the jump to Premier League football but in two other cases, The Canaries seem to be making in-roads.

A couple of weeks ago, Leeboz came up with a story that City were chasing FC Twente midfielder, Leroy Fer, via BBC journo, Richard Askam. Voetbal International confirmed that and today they are saying that Fer will have a medical at Norwich this week in a deal worth a reported ?8.5m.

Now, you may remember that Fer failed a medical with a knee issue in January this year when Everton were after him for a similar fee. You Tube footage suggests that Fer is a monster of a midfield player with a box to box style and the ability to score goals.

Voetbal International suggest that City want Fer as a ‘driver’ for RVW – I’m not sure exactly what that means either as I’m using Google translate but I’m assuming that he is wanted as a foil or supplier of chances – sounds great.

The news from V.I is also positive about Ajax defender, Toby Alderweireld. They are suggesting that the Canaries interest is concrete and that the player will travel to England this week for talks as he is keen to move to the Premier League.

Alderweireld looks to be a very good player with 124 appearances for Ajax behind him as well as having played 24 times for his country, Belgium. When you consider that the current Belgian team is pretty awesome, he must be good to play with the likes of Hazard, Fellaini, Benteke, Lukaku, Kompany et al.

I can barely begin to think about how good the signings of either of these two would be, never mind both of them. It seems to me that the signing of RVW was a sign of the ambition of our club and the determination that we will become a steady, established side in the PL.

Of course, being linked with these players and siging them are two different things altogether, but, exciting times eh?!
