The Daily Record are today carrying a story about the long running saga of Norwich City’s attempts to buy Gary Hooper.

The report suggests that City have been joined in making a £4m bid for Hooper by QPR and that both clubs made bids yesterday.

The paper also states that Celtic are set to turn down these offers as their valuation of the player has not been met.

As everyone knows, Hooper has just one year left on his contract and it is widely thought that he will not sign another at Celtic and that he fancies a move to the English Premier League.

The paper reckons that both clubs will return with improved bids and is quoted as follows:

‘Record Sport understands Hooper is keen on a move to the Canaries – despite saying last week he was open to staying in Glasgow. The Londoner would prefer a switch to Carrow Road as he is desperate to play in the Premier League and impress England boss Roy Hodgson.’

Hopefully the lure of PL football will count against QPR and that we can finally get this deal sorted out. Celtic played hardball throughout January so I guess we’ll see what their resolve is like now that the clock is running down on the lad’s contract.
