Norwich City’s Offer For Striker Is Turned Down But Talks Continue

|

Norwich City are clearly very interested in West Ham striker, Jordan Hugill, I think that’s fair to say.

Speculation has surfaced over the last week or so and on Saturday, a report from Football Insider suggested that Norwich had offered just £2m for a player that cost the Hammers £10m in January 2018 (see below).

West Ham Want Another £3m After Norwich Striker Offer

The cost of these deals is always almost impossible to judge correctly with it very often just depending on whichever media outlet you’ve read the story on. On Sunday morning though, the Daily Mail are reporting that West Ham have actually turned down an offer from the Canaries totalling £5m. This deal supposedly consists of £3m up front and then a further £2m in performance related add-ons.

Now, it seems to me that £5m in total might seal this deal and I can see why the Hammers would want a bit more up-front in terms of the make-up of the deal. According to the Mail, David Moyes, who was in charge for the first time when Hugill was bought from Preston, needs to sell players before he can buy this summer and, having made just three appearances for West Ham, Hugill seems an obvious player to try to move on.

Talks are reportedly still on-going and if that’s correct then it could be that a compromise will be reached in the coming days. After all, £5m doesn’t seem a lot of money in this day and age for a striker who scored 15 goals while on-loan with fellow Championship Side, QPR last season.
