Norwich Must Do Without One Crucial Player As Another Returns To The Squad Ahead Of Bolton Test

|

Norwich City will be missing vitally important midfielder, Moritz Leitner for the third game in a row, Daniel Farke told the assembled media on Friday lunchtime at Colney. On a more positive note though, Onel Hernandez is back in contention.

Speaking at his usual pre-match presser, the City Head Coach spoke about several subjects including winning the “cursed” manager of the month award.

“I appreciate to win the manager of the month award. I have full respect to it and to the managers who win it. I’m not a big believer in individual awards. It’s more an award for the name of my players and staff” he said.

He also said that he hopes to beat the curse and gave an update on the fitness of his squad.

“Sadly we can’t involve Moritz Leitner tomorrow. It’s quite a surprise because he still has some problems with his calf.

We have some good news with Onel Hernandez. He’s trained the last two days and is available for tomorrow.”

Other than a few other minor knocks though the squad is good to go ahead of the weekend’s visit from Bolton Wanderers.

The return to fitness of Hernandez is going to give Farke a selection issue over the left side of midfield, with Todd Cantwell, scoring and providing an assist in the 3-1 win over Rotherham last Saturday.

It was a performance that won him the man of the match award too. I suspect that it will now come down to a tactical decision as to which player out of the two has the right attributes for the Bolton game. It would be a little harsh on Todd if he was dropped though.

There was further good news with Kenny McLean poised to return to full training next week and he could play for the U23s against Wolfsburg next Thursday. The return of McLean will be like getting a brand new signing, we’ve seen so little of him due to injury.
