There has been more speculation today linking FC Union Berlin defender, Toni Leistner with a move to Norwich City.

To be fair, most of it is from Twitter and lots of City fans were awaiting the team news for Berlin’s friendly game with Birmingham City at 5pm on Tuesday to see if the big defender was in the squad.

Initially there was lots of excitement because he was not named, that was until he was later reported to be ‘injured’. Having said that, I think that’s the term that was used to describe Jonny Howson’s absence from the Norwich squad that played Cobh Ramblers, last week.

Via the help of everyone’s favourite new source on Twitter for all things Norwich City, Cory@iwritethings23, we have a link to a very recent article that discusses Toni Leistner’s future via FC Union Berlin’s coach, Jens Keller in Berliner Zeitung

The article suggests that City’s ?3.5m bid for Leistner has been with Berlin for some time and that they are not considering it enough to force a sale just yet – here’s some translation for you:

‘However, the offer obviously does not move in an area that makes the club leadership seriously think about the sale. At least the statements of Keller are to be understood. He points out that the club is only looking for a conversation with him when a sale is really being considered.’

I’ll let you translate the whole thing but basically, it seems that Berlin are looking for more than ?3.5m for Leistner despite him having only one year left on his contract.

Will City bid higher? Can they afford to? The way things move in the recruitment department at our club at the moment, I expect we’ll find out very soon.
