Dutch paper, De Telegraaf are today carrying a story that suggests Norwich City are keen on Ajax defender, Toby Alderweireld.

I understand that they have made contact with Marc Overmars’, the Belgian`s agent Soren Lerby told the paper.

‘Toby has left Ajax`s training camp in Austria due to personal circumstances and I haven`t been able to speak to him about Norwich.

‘I don`t know how Toby sees the transfer.’

Alderweireld is 24 years old, Belgian and predominently a central defender but can also cover as a right back. He looks like a classy player and is in the last year of his contract. De Telegraaf state he seems certain to leave this summer as Ajax don’t want to lose him for nothing in a year’s time.

He has recently been linked with Roma, Spurs and Liverpool so it would seem a real coup if Hughton and McNally could pull this one off.

Alderweireld has made 124 appearances for Ajax since his debut in 2008 and played 24 times for his country.
