Norfolk boy, Danny Mills to be released by Man City

Despite having three years left on his contract at Manchester City, Danny Mills has been told he can leave.

‘I’m disappointed and very surprised,’ said Mills, who signed for City on a free transfer from Leeds two years ago.

His departure from Norwich City in 1998 wasn’t pleasant, according to the player, who has gone on to International honours since leaving.

He is just 29 years old and a right-sided defender, a position left as bare as Mother Hubbard’s cupboard since Marc Edworthy left under mysterious circumstances, so it is a position that needs filling. The thing is, would Worthington be prepared to meet Mills’ wage demands and, more to the point, would Mills be prepared to return to his home-town club?
