Vital Plymouth report that the Hammers Central Defender has been linked witha move to Norwich City

Elliot Ward, the 21 year old ex West Ham trainee could be on his way to Carrow Road. At least, that is the thinking of the Vital Plymouth editor.

The 6ft 1in central defender has been previously loaned out to Peterborough and Bristol Rovers before his spell at the Argyle, where he is credited with being instrumental in helping the Pilgrims avoid relegation. Following 16 appearances at Home Park, Ward returned to West Ham where he stands 4th in line for a starting spot, so would be looking to move for first team football.

From Vital Plymouth, the signs are that Plymouth fans would like to see Ward become a part of their set up, blaming the uncertainty of the future of Tony Pulis as the likely cause of missing out on potential targets. It must be said, to give them something to smile about, a central defender is not a position is an urgent requirement. Right sided defenders and midfielders are what the fans see as being more necessary to the cause. With Gary Doherty and Jason Shackell already filling the centre of defense, and the aging Craig Fleming able to play therem perhaps the competition for places might be sufficient to put Ward off. Who knows, though, how Worthington thinks? He has made it plain that he wants players to compete for places, so this might just put the edge on the Doc and Shacks that he is after.
