Norwich City’s U23 development side went down 2-1 to West Ham at Dagenham last night with the game being notable as the first 90 minutes of the season for Matt Jarvis.

Ex-Hammer Jarvis has been sidelined all season and has yet to appear for the first team, although that time is surely close now.

The Hammers had Sam Byram, Reece Oxford and Ashley Fletcher in their line-up and opened the scoring on 56 minutes when Fletcher scored from close range.

The lead was doubled on 71 minutes when Marcus Browne chipped the ball over Ben Killip in the City goal. There was an almost immediate response from the Canaries as Joe Crowe pulled one back from a corner but it ended 2-1.

As ever, development football isn’t too exciting but at least a senior player is back up and running. I’d expect he’ll be back in the first team squad very soon.

Norwich: Killip, Efete, Ramsay, Grant, Godfrey, Crowe, Middleton (Ashley-Seal 63), McGrandles, Morris, Jaiyesimi, Jarvis. Subs not used: Hallett, Odusina, McIntosh, Lewis.
