Norwich City Near To Signing Of French Midfielder

|

Norwich City are close to the signing of French midfielder, Melvin Sitti according to the Daily Telegraph’s Mike McGrath.

Sitti is a defensive midfielder who currently plays for FC Sochaux-Montbeliard  in French Ligue 2 and according to Mr McGrath would be a part of the first team squad. Earlier in the day, reports in Italy suggested that the loan deal for Ibrahim Amadou could be cut short with Serie A club Genoa a likely next loan move for the French midfielder.

Amadou is reported by the EDP as not being thought of as effective enough in the defensive midfield role and he has made virtually all his 11 appearances this season in full or at least in part as a makeshift centre back.

With Grant Hanley, Christoph Zimmermann and Ben Godfrey all now fully fit and with Timm Klose on the verge of a first team squad comeback, Amadou’s usefulness in defence is receding and the form of Alex Tettey has seen him unable to displace the elder statesmen of the City squad in the defensive midfield role.

I do note though, that his Wikipedia page shows that Sitti has only made two appearances for his club this season so it seems unlikely that he would be thrown into the first team immediately. He could be another one for the future with Sochaux wanting him to stay on loan for the rest of the season, according to the Daily Mail who are also carrying the story.
