Norwich City “Clear Favourites” For Centre Back Says Journalist

|

Norwich City are still in the race for the signature of Burnley centre back, Ben Gibson according to Sun journalist, Alan Nixon.

The Canaries have been linked with Gibson, who moved to Burnley from his boyhood club, Middlesbrough in 2018 for a reported £18m. Since then though, he has only made six appearances, seeming to be clearly out of favour at Turf Moor.

Gibson has plenty of Championship experience, as well as having had a season in the Premier League with ‘Boro, so would seem like a good fit for any upwardly mobile second tier club looking for promotion. Speaking of which, there have always been links back to Middlesbrough, who are owned by Ben’s Uncle, Steve Gibson but his salary could be prohibitive. Another team that seem interested are Nottingham Forest, who have the trump card of Joe Worral, a player that Burnley are thought to covet.

A swap deal might be on the table there, although does the player fancy a move to Forest? They could probably afford him, so much may come down to where he would like to end up. After some excellent looking business in this summer’s transfer window, the signing of a player like Ben Gibson would only strengthen Norwich further, surely making them favourites for promotion.

UPDATE: Mr Nixon now has Norwich as “clear favourites” to land Gibson…
