Norwich Defender Signs For Hannover

|

Marcel Franke has signed a three year deal with Hannover 96, the Bundesliga 2 side have announced.

Marcel was signed from Greuther Furth back in summer 2017 for what was reported then as being a £2.5m fee but things didn’t work out with his final game being the 4-0 drubbing at Millwall, which also turned out to be Russell Martin’s last game for Norwich too.

Looking back on that fee now, £2.5m was quite a sizeable outlay at the time and I imagine that him not performing was a big disappointment to the Carrow Road hierarchy.

The flop of both Franke and Martin prompted City to sign Grant Hanley and the return to fitness of Timm Klose meant that Franke’s time was going to be limited and he joined Darmstadt in Bundesliga 2 last season on-loan, having spent the second half of last season on-loan at Dynamo Dresden.

Hannover are newly relegated and their Captain is Marvin Bakalorz, who you will remember was a reported Norwich target this summer. Bakalorz has recently committed his future to Hannover too.

Best of luck for the future, Marcel.
