Norwich Set To Finally Sign Winger As Well As Young Keeper

|

Norwich City are set to sign two very promising young Scottish players reports the EDP.

Last January, the Canaries were reported to have had a £300k bid for Partick Thistle winger, Aidan Fitzpatrick knocked back amid very strong interest from Glasgow Rangers too.

Now though, it looks as though City are back in for the young winger.

The 18-year-old winger scored 7 goals in 30 appearances for Partick last season and along with David Turnbull (who turned City down last week) he is one of Scotland’s most promising young players.

However, according to the Daily Record Norwich have yet to agree a deal with Partick for the jewel in their crown, although the same paper do report that another deal has been agreed by City.

That other player is a name that first surfaced a few weeks ago in the shape of  18-year-old Aberdeen goalkeeper, Archie Mair.

The likely signing of Mair seems to suggest that Aston Oxborough will be allowed out on loan, surmises the EDP’s Dave Freezer.

He also reports that Jon McCracken has rejected a contract offer and that Blackburn, Hibs and Newcastle are interested. The news today that Rafa Benitez will leave Newcastle at the end of this month might change that, unless something has already been sorted out.

The continuing acquisition of promising young players is the future for Norwich and they are certainly going about it in a continually positive way.

Whilst unlikely to be the immediate future of the club, they (if City can agree a deal for Fitzpatrick) will most likely play their part sooner rather than later, assuming they develop as the recruitment team hope they will.
