Norwich Interested In Exciting Midfield Talent

|

Norwich City are one of a number of clubs keeping tabs on talented Uruguayan midfielder, Nicolas Acevedo according to The Sun.

Acevedo is only 19 and has been compared with countryman, Lucas Torreira who has been a superb defensive midfield signing for Arsenal. Acevedo can play in the same position and also as a central defender, although I suspect that at such a young age, his best position is yet to be established fully.

He plays for Liverpool Montevideo in Uruguay and has been starring for his country in the U20 South American Youth Championship, currently being played out in Chile.

Norwich are reported as being interested, along with Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool (from the UK) but with that level of competition, we will struggle if one of the big boys makes a move. You can also add Serie A side, Udinese to the lad’s list of admirers too.

These sort of links suggest to me a level of scouting and forward planning that has been previously absent from Norwich City. I would be amazed if a player like this were to join Norwich while we are in the Championship and certainly not in this transfer window.

However, with the Canaries right in the promotion mix, I imagine that this sort of scouting means that we’re looking at least one, two probably more, transfer windows ahead, especially with Premier League football possibly on the horizon.
