Norwich Rejected Roma Bid For Star Man

|

Norwich City have rejected a £20m bid for Max Aarons according to The Sun.

During the recent January transfer window there was plenty of speculation swirling around the Canaries’ squad, particularly concerning Emi Buendia, Todd Cantwell and Max Aarons. I think it’s fair to say that those three, due to their age and ability are the jewels in the club’s crown and with all of them being on long contracts it’s not impossible to think that selling all three could make around £100m.

Sporting Director, Stuart Webber spoke in a club interview after the transfer window had closed and said “The only interest was in Max. No other players.”

“We decided not to act on that interest, with Max’s blessing I must add, because it was from abroad and wouldn’t have been quite right for him and definitely wasn’t right for us at that time.

“It was about keeping the squad together.”

According to The Sun it was Serie A giants, Roma who bid for Max but were knocked back.

Roma, after failing in their attempt for Aarons, signed American full-back Brian Reynolds from FC Dallas on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

The Sun also report, as mentioned widely earlier in the month, that Norwich think Aarons is worth around £35m and that they expect to achieve close to that next summer.
