Norwich Win Race For Bolton Midfielder

|

Having seemingly been knocked back in their pursuit for one promising young player, Peterborough United’s Flynn Clarke, at least for the moment, news is now breaking about the race for another.

A race that Norwich City have reportedly won.

You can read about the Canaries’ attempts to buy Flynn Clarke from Peterborough below.

Norwich Bid For Promising Prospect Rejected

The other promising attacking prospect, and the headline subject of this article, is Bolton Wanderers’ 17-year-old Regan Riley. The report comes via journalist, Pete O’Rourke.

As you can see, Mr O’Rourke says that City have beaten Brighton to this signing as well.

Riley has only played once this season – 53 minutes against Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Trophy and it seems that a £250k fee will see him join Norwich on a three-year-deal.

I’m reading that he isn’t on pro-terms at Bolton, so that fee is presumably compensation due to his age and I imagine there may be some add-on clauses included in the deal.

If accurate, this is another example of Norwich picking up a promising youngster at a knockdown price. They did the same with Bali Mumba last summer and it’s that template, including the willingness of Daniel Farke to play youngsters, that helps us sign them.
