Norwich Bid For Promising Prospect Rejected

|

Norwich City have had two bids rejected by Peterborough United for their teenage prodigy, Flynn Clarke according to the Peterborough Telegraph.

Clarke is 18 years old and has three goals in just five games for the Posh, which makes them think their man is on the right trajectory to become a star and they may well be right.

Norwich famously set the standard for this sort of transfer when they bought James Maddison from Coventry on deadline day in January 2016. That transfer cost City a reported £3m that later saw Madders star for Norwich before moving on to Leicester City for £24m.

Peterborough are well aware of this precedent and as a result have rejected an initial offer of  £300k and then another bid of £700k plus add-ons.

The Telegraph also say:

Clarke made his Football League debut at the age of 17 at Hull City earlier this season. He also scored three goals in three group games in this season’s Papa John’s Trophy including a stunning effort at Cambridge United and earned a call-up to a Scotland Under 19 squad.

Clarke’s grandfather is former Posh, Portsmouth and former Northern Ireland star Colin Clarke.

Clarke’s agent is Integral Sports Management whose head of football operations is former Posh player Mark Arber. Arber’s father Bobby works for Norwich as a scout.”

Another gem being unearthed?
