Norwich Winger Signs Long Term Contract Extension

|

Onel Hernandez has signed a new four-year contract extension. Onel announced the deal via the club’s social media accounts as has become the way with these announcements, which is great.

Onel’s new deal comes hot on the heels of similar deals signed by Tim Krul, Timm Klose and Marco Stiepermann and it ties another crucial player to the club for the foreseeable future, in this case 2023.

Onel joined the Canaries in January 2018 from Bundesliga 2 side, Eintracht Braunsweig for a fee thought to be around the £1.8m mark.

His direct style has made him a fan favourite and he has a habit of scoring important goals too.

A late brace away at St. Andrew’s on the opening day of last season helped City get up and running before he scored further important goals, making another two late strikes in the 3-3 draw with Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.

Those two goals, in the 94th and 98th minutes, helped City secure an unlikely draw, having found themselves 3-0 down with just 13 minutes to play.

He also scored against Ipswich at Carrow Road in the first minute of the 3-0 win over the old enemy, bringing a smile to all our faces.

Onel has just got engaged, promoted to the Premier League and now he’s got a new contract too – life’s not too bad eh?!
