Today’s transfer gossip is as clumsy as it is stupid, but we’ll plough on regardless…

Tottenham boss Harry ‘I’m not a wheeler-dealer’ Redknapp is not attempting to do any wheeler-dealing by revealing that that the Canaries, Swansea and a couple of others are interested in signing Stephen Caulker, who spent last season on loan at Bristol City.

City need at least one additional central defender but you would think someone with a little more top-flight experience would come in handy – has Matthew Upson‘s name been mentioned this week by anyone?

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown fears City’s promotion to the Premier League has priced him out of a move for Steven Smith. Brown was seemingly under the impression that he could sign him on the cheap. Well not any more buddy boy!

Barnsley want to spend £650,000 of the £1m they’ll get by selling former City defender Jason Shackell to Derby on Chris Martin.

Ex-Ipswich, erm, star, Darren Ambrose has handed in a transfer request at Palace and is waiting on Neil Warnock and QPR to match City’s £1.6m offer.

There’s apparently a press conference arranged for midday tomorrow when the club will announce the signing of Henri Lansbury from Arsenal for a £5m+ and a season-long loan deal for Manchester United defender Johnny Evans, or it may to confirm a season-long loan deal for United’s Ritchie De Laet.

And finally, Nicklas Bendtner has supposedly been spotted at Colney, although quite why he’d be there is anyone’s guess – dropping Henners off for his press conference perhaps.
