Next up in ‘My NCFC’, where we interview Vital Norwich members and learn a little bit more about our fellow City supporters, is STEVE FROM OZ.

How did you become a Canary?

I moved to Norwich in 1963 when my Dad was promoted. Living in Norwich, City are talked about every day and every hour so you quickly become ‘in the know’ especially if you are football mad.

Being a teenager I didn`t have to rely on my parents to take me to a match and the bus was right outside my door, so off I went and the rest as they say is history.

What/when was your first game?

First ever game was before I was born when I was in my mum’s womb as she used to live not far from Meadow Lane and supported Notts County, so I ‘heard’ the ‘noise’ very early on which must have made its way into my DNA! First game at Norwich would have been in the 1963/64 season sometime but don`t know which one.

How many games do you get to?

Living in Australia basically until this year only three since I left in 1973 – one was at Nottingham Forest one Christmas and the other was when Norwich came over to Oz and I saw them in Sydney – and the best one was Scunny in April this year when I met some of the Vital boys, but I listen or watch text to as many as I can and watch when they’re televised.

What is your most memorable moment?

Walking into the top of the old Wembley Stadium when we were playing Spurs in the League Cup Final. That moment when I got my first view of the inside of the stadium and saw all that yellow and green, my heart jumped into mouth and I knew then how deep City went for me.

Which (if any) Norwich players have you met?

None

Who is your favourite current player?

Holt and Hoolahan.

Who is your favourite all-time player?

Kevin Keelan

What are your hopes for the coming season?

To surprise the Premier League teams and have an infinitely better season in the Prem than last time.

What is your all time Canary eleven?

May be a bit strange as I have a huge block out from ’74 to getting the internet except for sparse reports and only single line results due to not much information coming into Australia during that time:

Keelan
Drury
Doherty
Forbes
Stringer
Huckerby
Hoolahan
Foggo
Curran
Holt
Paddon

What is the best thing about being a Norwich City supporter?

It`s the anticipation of late goals, something which Norwich have done since I`ve been supporting them – only made the mistake once leaving the River End early and of course we scored and a few of us ran back – miles too late obviously – think we expected a replay – oh well there was on Match of the Week on Sunday…

If you could change one thing about the club, what would it be?

Enlarge the stadium and make it totally 100% surrounded by more seats.
