Nigel Worthington has praised his team for their performance against Birmingham City despite being knocked out of the Carling Cup with a 2-1 defeat. It took the Blues until the 85th to break the deadlock with a brilliant individual shot from Jiri Jarosik.

Following a ‘gutless’ performance at Loftus Road, Worthington said:

‘That was much, much better. We looked a lot more like the old Norwich. It was nice to see them in their faces and I was delighted with the performance over the course of the 90 minutes.’

Adding:

‘It was a great goal to finish us off but I have to give the players credit – they stood up to Birmingham and had chances to win it.’

He was pleased that his team made the Blues goalie Nico Vaesen work hard as Davenport came close and Huckerby peppered his goal in the second half.

‘It was disappointing we got beat because I honestly thought we could come here and get a good result.
