Not Pompey Again
As we have said the usual mix of rumours, silly rumours and darn right stupid ones are with us again.
But I would like to add another category the customary ones, you know they seem to crop up every transfer window.
I am sure all clubs have one or two of these that appear from time to time. I think one of Norwich City’s is the Green to Portsmouth Transfer.
With reports in local press stating
‘The City number one, currently with the England World Cup squad, is said to be top of Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp’s wish list.’
True, it could simply press talk, and we know stories sells papers, but just a thought worth considering. Green is in the last year of his contract, with an option of a years extention. May be the club may decide to cash in on Green now rather seeing him walk away for free, fearing that history could repeat itself.
With Green already making noises that he will think about his future after the World Cup, also I think many fans believe that Green’s body language during last season started to show he doesn’t really want to be at Carrow Road.
While Worthington states that that there has been no contact and that they are taking this last report with a ‘Pinch of Salt’ He certainly wouldn’t let Green go on the cheap, and why should he. Plus it is said ‘Arry’ isn’t short of a bob or two to spend. Whatever I expect nothing much to happen until nearer the start of pre season training.
