Duncan Ferguson has previously interested Worthington

Owls give up chase

Paul Sturrock, manager at Sheffield Wednesday, has given up the chase for the signature of Duncan Ferguson. This would open the door again, for Nigel Worthington has had more than a passing interest in the 6ft 4in frontman.

Although getting on in years, he would provide the target man that Worthington has been playing to for so long…

The Owls gave up the hunt when it was revealed that they were offering a pay-as-you-play basis, and Big Dunc wants something a bit more concrete, especially at his age.

City fans will recall that Ferguson started from the bench at our last encounter, and he came on to score against us. That sort of thing would delight Worthington, as well as Ferguson playing the role of target at Everton…

Fair enough, another player well into his thirties, but we all know the policy on youngsters at Carrow Road, don’t we???
