Some rumours that get aired during this part of the year are almost laughable but any rumour deserves an airing, just in case
Searching around for whatever rumours may be doing the rounds, I came across this one. I post it unabridged but cannot give it due credit as the poster remained anonymous.
‘I have key contacts at Norwich who tell me that N.Worthington is keen to sell Darren Huckerby to Charlton to allow him to move for Kris Commons. However other players want to play in the prem next season. Including Robert Green who has already been approached by Blackburn and Everton.’
Let’s examine the nitty gritty in this statement. Worthington and Huckerby have a special working relationship. Added to that, the present situation amongst the fans regarding Worthington’s continued position of manager would be sorely tested by such a manoeuvre. And it should also be remembered that Delia is a fond admirer of Huckerby. Then, of course, why would there be a need to offload Huckerby for a Divison One player when there is still another parachute payment that would secure Hucks’s services for the coming season.
Then there is the perrenial rumour of Green and Everton. Not even the Everton fan’s message boards are concerning themselves about any chance that he might be considered as a target for them. As for Blackburn, his name doesn’t feature in their speculation, either.
It has to be wondered where some of these people get their rumours from.
